Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin

The Charité is one of the oldest hospitals in Germany and among the largest of university clinics in Europe today. With a history spanning almost three centuries, the Charité has produced eight Nobel prize winners and has a worldwide reputation for excellence in medicine and research. Currently, with a staff of more than 12,800 full-time positions, the hospital handles 127,400 inpatient and 500,000 outpatient cases a year under the motto: "Research, Teaching, Healing, Helping".

The Charité has one of the most prestigious medical faculties in Germany. Currently, there are a total of 7,000 enrolled students. Study programs include the fields of medicine, dentistry, and medical and nursing pedagogy/nursing sciences as well as numerous postgraduate study programs.

Charité is the joint medical faculty of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin. The two faculties were merged in the summer of 2003. The Charité now has 4 main campi: Campus Charité Mitte (CCM), Campus Virchow Klinikum (CVK), Campus Benjamin Franklin (CBF), Campus Berlin Buch (CBB).

The program is centered at Campus Mitte, but lectures are held in all 4 campi. All campi and both universities are offering extensive library facilities to our students. We will guide you to get to know them.

The lectures of program are supported by the learning management system Blackboard. E-learning has become increasingly important at the Charité.
